Our Peace and Hope team in Peru is ready to respond to the emergency by supporting the victims left by flash flooding and landslides in several rural and urban areas in the coast of Peru.
We'll focus our help in the most affected areas, where there is urgent needs of access to food and drinkable water, and motor pumps to help families extract the mud and water from their homes; other urgent needs include diapers and matresses.
So far the flooding and landslide in the most affected areas (Piura, Lambayeque, La Libertad, Lima, Chosica, Arequipa) have caused:
- 62 people dead
- 170 people injured
- 12 people missing
- 765 miles of highways destroyed
- 72, 115 people lost their homes
- 567,551 people severely affected
